Sights Elst
Walking and biking
You can hike the hilly Utrechtse Heuvelrug with forests and heather, deer, galloway cows and konik horses. Or - with the ferry you can see from the house - hike the Betuwe, the Dutch fruit gardens;the place to be in springtime. And last but not least: B&B Weids is also close to the area of the "Dyke and River land" , the area where the broad Dutch rivers dominate the landscape with dykes, ferries, bridges and floodplains. B&B Weids is also a luxury stopover for a number of long-distance walks such as the Trekvogelpad (LAW 2), Maarten van Rossumpad (LAW 4) and the Utrechtpad (SP 13). B&B Weids has a number of beautiful routes prepared for you.
Ouwehands Zoo
The Ouwehands Zoo of Rhenen started as a chicken farm. Because visitors of the farm were more interested in the exotic animals the owners decided to start the Zoo around in the 30s. Now it is home of two famous Giant Panda's from China.
Historical sights
Because the rivers were important for trade and at the same time natural borders, the area has a long and turbulent history. Imagine yourself wondering around in the past by visiting the Amerongen Castle, that can be reached from the house in a one and a half hour walk through the floodplains. You can also visit the windmill in Amerongen.

The Grebbeberg takes you back in recent history. At the start of the Second world war this area was the bloodiest battlefield. The remains of the war positions, the military cemetery and national memorial can be visited.
